Even the Vespa SPECIAL 50, the most classic of scooters, sometimes needs a little more panache. And on a classic two-stroke engine the most obvious and simple of the modifications that can be made is the addition of an expansion muffler.
Therefore, Malossi technicians have designed an exhaust system from scratch specially designed for the dear old Vespa SPECIAL 50, with the aim of making it immediately more performing and enjoyable without however distorting the timeless line of the Piaggio scooter.
It looks like the most classic of MUFFLERS but all the new features and improvements are hidden under the skin. To get the best out of this expansion and to allow it to be fitted to all Vespas, the new manifold has been designed to be able to adapt to all thermal units currently on the market for this Vespa, from the original cylinder to the most performing in the Malossi range.
It is precisely the manifold, with its shape, that best connects the flow of exhaust gases from the cylinder to the muffler body, thus guaranteeing a significant increase in performance. The muffler body, with its characteristic expansion shape, has been specifically designed to guarantee maximum performance combined with roundness in operation. From idle to maximum revs, the exhaust gas suction effect generated by this component is maximized.
This component has been designed with the precise aim of being identical to the original so as to be completely discreet. Inside, however, two chambers have been created separated by a bulkhead in order to maximize the correct expansion of the exhaust gases while minimizing the noise from the muffler.
